2 DAY SUMMER WILD CAMPING & CANOE ADVENTURE 28-29 JUN
We are beyond excited to launch our 2 Day Wild Camping & Canoe Adventure in partnership with our pals ‘Go With The Flow Adventures! ‘.
Join GALZGONEWILD X GO WITH THE FLOW as we canoe and wild camp along the beautiful river Barrow in 2 seater Canadian canoes. This adventure has it all! We will canoe with the pace of nature from Goresbridge to St Mullins over 2 days with all of our gear. We will stop frequently to enjoy a floating lunch or take a refreshing wild dip in the river. You will get to experience wild camping and cooking in the great outdoors and chill under the stars with a glass of wine at our camp. There is so much flora and fauna to see- watch out for kingfishers and dippers, swans, ducklings ,otters and fish! We will take a leisurely morning wander around native Irish Woodlands and enjoy breakfast in the picturesque town of Graignemanagh.
Day 1
Our canoe adventure starts at Goresbridge where we paddle southwards down the River Barrow, this stunning natural paradise will enchant your imagination and enhance your soul. We will be guided through some beautiful 200 year old locks at Borris, Demense and Clashganny. There will be time to relax, wild swim in the river, and wander in the forest. We will pitch our tents and wild camp at the lock before enjoying an evening camp meal on the riverside.
Day 2
The drama and wonder of the Barrow Gorge are spellbinding – known to some as the Valley of the monks, others are reminded of this 1000yr old trail first explored by the raiding Vikings. After we pack up our tents we will make our way down the river to Graignamanagh. Enjoy the beautiful setting of the boats on the water as the Barrow turns the bend under Mt Brandon and heads out to sea. Here we will tie up our canoes and enjoy some breakfast. There will be time to explore, restock your snacks and soak up the local area. From here we will paddle further down river, enjoying our last day of nature connection before we end in the stunning St Mullins where our adventure will come to a close. We will enjoy a hearty lunch in the stunning riverside cafe of St Mullins before heading off and saying our goodbyes.
———————————————————————————————
This adventure is all about experiencing something new with a supportive and welcoming group of galz. The trip is suitable for complete beginners and we mean COMPLETE BEGINNERS. We want you to become independent, confident and comfortable in a wild environment. You will be paired up with someone else and as a team of 2 you will both be responsible for packing and unloading your canoe, pitching your tent and cooking your camp meal together. Of course your GGW Hosts will be there to assist you when needed. :)
